Hi all

If you loved Mother of Invention, you will definitely want to check out the next anthology coming from Twelfth Planet Press.

Rebuilding Tomorrow is a followup anthology to Defying Doomsday, which was an anthology of apocalypse-survival fiction with a focus on disabled characters. Rebuilding Tomorrow will also focus on disabled and/or chronically ill protagonists but set a significant time after the apocalyptic disaster. We want stories that show society getting back on its feet and people moving past subsistence-level existence into a new, sustainable world, even though it’s one that has been irrevocably changed by an apocalypse.

You’ll be hearing more about Rebuilding Tomorrow over the next few weeks. Not only is it going to be a fabulous addition to our range of crunch SFF anthologies here at Twelfth Planet Press, it will be launching at Worldcon in Wellington 2020!

We've chosen to run this campaign on Pozible, because we support worker's rights and have been deeply disappointed in Kickstarter's attitude towards its employees attempting to unionise. We support Kickstarter United, and hope that they are successful in their endeavours. We know that many of our supporters and readers have been likewise unhappy with Kickstarter's unsatisfactory response to this issue, and we have chosen to respond the only way we can -- by taking our business elsewhere, for now.

If you haven't used Pozible before, the interface has a few differences to Kickstarter, but is basically a very similar model, and we hope you'll follow us over there.

Check out our Rebuilding Tomorrow Pozible page for book rewards, enamel pins, and links to our submission guidelines. Plant trees with us for a hopeful future!

Winter's Tale Kickstarter: 70 Hours To Go!
over 4 years ago – Sun, Aug 25, 2019 at 08:12:22 PM

Hi all!

We're in the final push for Twelfth Planet Press' latest Kickstarter: only 70 hours to go!

We still have just under $2000 to raise to make this book a reality, and we'd love to have your support.

It's a big deal for us, trying something that's a little outside what we are known for as a publisher. But we believe strongly in the importance of gender-diverse books for kids, and we're so in love with Winter's Tale, the first release upcoming from our new children's imprint, Titania.

Featuring a non-binary foster child protagonist, a cast of eccentric, magical characters, friendship, pancakes and skateboarding, this book is something truly special. All backer copies will be sent out by October 2019 so you can order these as holiday gifts.

Rewards include stickers, knitted flower fairies, etched glassware, and a Kickstarter-exclusive hardback edition of this wonderful book.

Support Australian small press, and gender diverse books for kids. Check out our Kickstarter today!

over 4 years ago – Tue, Aug 20, 2019 at 06:40:11 PM

Hello Mother of Invention supporters!

We have only one week left of our Winter's Tale Kickstarter, and still quite a way to go towards our goal. If you love what Twelfth Planet Press do, don't forget to pop over and check out this awesome new book project plus all the shiny merch.

When you pre-order your copy of Winter's Tale through our Kickstarter, you're not only supporting gender diverse books for kids, but also an Australian small press that has been putting out strong, political, feminist, challenging SFF books for many years.

Hello Mother of Invention supporters. Hope you’re well, happy, and that your life is full of challenging books, and friendly robots, rather than the other way around.

We just wanted to pop by and let you know that we launched a new Kickstarter today!

Twelfth Planet Press have created Titania, a  children’s imprint, with the aim to reflect the diversity that we see in the world in books for younger readers.

Winter’s Tale, written by Tiptree Award-winning author NIKE SULWAY and illustrated by SHAUNA O’MEARA, is middle grade fiction about an agender protagonist searching for a new home. Brought to life by vivid full colour illustrations, the story is one of suburban magic, lost and found families, and the importance of being exactly who you are.

Our Kickstarter is only running for 21 days, which is exciting and terrifying! You can pre-order Winter’s Tale in paperback, or a limited edition hardback edition, and all pledges receive the exclusive early PDF of the book.

In a change of pace from previous TPP crowdfunding campaigns, the book is almost completely ready to print which means we’ll be delivering rewards by OCTOBER and yes, that does mean you can order this extraordinary, magical new children’s book for your holiday gifting this year.

Other rewards include all kinds of Twelfth Planet Press loot, and some fabulous hand-knitted flower fairies.

Check out the campaign, please like and retweet when you see us promoting it, and cheer us on in our crowdfunding.

over 5 years ago – Sun, Jul 29, 2018 at 09:27:41 PM

We've sent out almost all the rewards now... almost there! Depending on postage times, you should be receiving yours soon if you haven't already.

In the next essay of stretch goal series, Aliette de Bodard discusses how she developed her fictional AIs to be individuals, people, and part of the family.
